How We Work - The LaFollette Process

Architectural Drawings

Architectural Drawings: Steven Eyke and Daniel Bollman combine their talents to give their clients creative, cost effective, design solutions. Steve has been designing and building for over 17 years, allowing him to provide client consultation and target budgeting before beginning a project. Dan's extensive experience with historic buildings and traditional detailing will help to guide your design. We can create floor plans and elevations, as well as interior details and unique structural solutions. We design functional, high quality kitchens, libraries and cozy spaces. Our services include material and finish selections, giving our clients total design expertise in one company.

Budgeting

Budgeting: In our first meeting together, we will establish a target budget based on your initial selections. We design with the budget in mind and after final completion of your design, we will generate a detailed budget outlining your scope of work and establishing a contract price.

Construction agreement

Construction Agreement: Our contract with you consolidates our previous work into one joint agreement, which comprises the formal understanding regarding the scope of work. As construction proceeds, we rely on this agreement to remind us of our obligations to you. Great effort is placed into our drawings and contracts in order to avoid any misunderstandings.

construction phase

Construction Phase: We do take care to keep your job site clean, but you should be prepared for the mess and disruption of construction. Employee smoking or inconsiderate behavior is not tolerated. Mr. Eyke has over 25 years of experience managing construction sites and has the unique ability to anticipate clients' needs. If you have pets or special safety concerns, we will do every thing to address those needs.

communication

Communication: At your pre-construction meeting, you will meet your LaFollette field manager. We will discuss your project and give you the opportunity to communicate your expectations, as well as establish our weekly communications routine. Our construction process includes thorough communication to make sure your wishes and day to day needs are met. LaFollette's office manager, Ms. Joan Scott coordinates the daily activity and communications and can also schedule weekly on-site client meetings. Our field managers are working managers and are your most available means to communicate with us.

Mr. Eyke coordinates the process with daily phone calls to your field manager and with sub-contractors working on your project. He regularly makes unscheduled site visits to review the work in process and is always available by cell phone.

details

Details: It's all about the details: from creative historical designs to unique millwork, we immerse ourselves in our craft. We seek to broaden our knowledge through regular continued education and we offer our own public lectures on history and design. We understand that the high cost of most homes is a result of over-sized, but uninspired rooms; most builders don't know any other way. Conversely, we advocate designing for detail rather than size and we concentrate on building spaces you will love. As a result, you will find that our product is unequalled, and we counsel our clients on the value of this approach.

warranty

Warranty: We are so strongly committed to your satisfaction that we will correct any defects caused from improper design or craftsmanship for as long as you own your home. This warranty is backed up by our commitment to quality and our long company history. We will still be here when you need us.
